The use of patterns has become so common in today's architectural community that we are close to consuming them on virtually every corner, in the shape of different types of graphics, two-dimensional or three-dimensional pictograms, and even artistic, graphic elements in a strict sense applied directly to architectural surfaces.... While critics of architecture argue whether these elements represent a redundant post-Modernistic phenomenon and whether they have been rehabilitated after the revolutionary condemnation of ornaments (Ornament und Verbrechen – Ornament and Crime) by Adolf Loos at the beginning of the last century, digital technology has resulted in the thriving of artistic decoration in architecture.
